The BID Initiative team works across three countries in the United States, Tanzania and Zambia. This week, we learn more about Abdallah Shamte, Senior Project Administrator from the Dar es Salaam, Tanzania office.

What is your role? I lead the development, management and monitoring of budgets for the BID Tanzania team in coordination with BID Initiative Deputy Director, BID Tanzania Director and Seattle-based Project Administrator. I also oversee preparation of financial transaction documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accepted rules and regulations.

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time? Watch or listen to news just to be aware of what is happening around the world and read.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?  Accountant.

What is one of your favorite quotes? “Define your own life. Don’t let other people write your script.”

Who is your hero? My father, Mzee Mwinyimvua.

What do you like most about your job? Working with a team of professionals from different professions, learning from them and vice versa, sharing knowledge and at the end achieving that synergism.

“Shamte joined the BID Initiative team as an already-seasoned project administrator for PATH. He makes sure we’re adhering to PATH’s administrative guidelines while also making sure the agreements are requested and negotiated, the RFPs are issued, and purchase orders signed, among a million other daily details. He also serves as a key link to the Seattle operations team; I appreciate that he is always easygoing no matter how stressful the job gets!” – Christina Smith, Project Administrator, Seattle
