Masaina Bwakya

The BID Initiative team works across three countries in the United States, Tanzania, and Zambia. This week, we learn more about Masaina Bwakya, Change Management Associate in Zambia.

I implement change management and quality improvement efforts at health facilities for the BID Initiative.

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done? Having to leave my two-year-old daughter in Lusaka when I worked in the Congolese repatriation in Northern Zambia.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a medical doctor because I wanted to save lives.

What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity? I love to swim every opportunity I get.

Who is your hero? My mother Leah, who is also my prayer warrior and has always believed in me. She taught me that with determination and hard work, I can achieve anything in this world.

What do you like most about your job? I love a lot of things about my job. Firstly, I enjoy working with the team because they are so creative, and I also get the opportunity to meet new people constantly and learn new lessons. But most of all I get the opportunity to fulfill my life’s passion of helping to improve the lives of children and the community.
