The BID Learning Network invites you to view a webinar presentation on The Immunization Data: Evidence for Action (IDEA) Review. IDEA is a global synthesis of existing evidence aimed at increasing the use of high-quality data to improve immunization coverage. While advances in information technology have led to continuous increases in the amount of health data available, data remains an under-utilized resource in the design and implementation of immunization programs throughout the world. The IDEA Review identifies five proven strategies to improve data use and outlines how funders, policymakers, and program implementers can incorporate these best practices to improve the efficacy of regional and national immunization programs. The review draws on nearly 550 documents including published literature, working papers, project evaluations and reports, which were distilled and prioritized by global immunization experts. During this webinar the presenters discuss their findings, the realist review methodology that was used to identify the findings as well as the advocacy and communications activities that were undertaken to ensure uptake of the findings. PRESENTERS:
| Laurie Werner
Laurie Werner has worked with PATH since 2011, with a focus on immunization systems, health systems strengthening and digital health. Prior to joining PATH, Laurie served in the leadership of Agros International as their Director of Programs for eight years. She led a multi-faceted program on sustainable agriculture and land ownership, managing the implementation and operations in five country offices in Central America and Mexico. She currently leads the BID Initiative portfolio of work, which focuses on improving immunization data collection, quality, and use for better decision-making in African countries. Laurie also provides leadership to the Data Use Partnership in Tanzania and other efforts such as the Immunization Data: Evidence into Action (IDEA) work. She served as a member of the Decade of Vaccines Collaboration Secretariat where she coordinated working groups of experts and external consultation events to support the creation of the Global Vaccine Action Plan. Laurie holds a Master of Public Administration (MPH) degree from the University of Washington. |
| Allison Osterman
Allison Osterman has worked with PATH since 2016 with a focus on implementation research and evaluation at the Health Systems Analytics team. For the Immunization Data: Evidence for Action (IDEA) project, Allison conducted the literature review and was the lead report writer. She also provides technical leadership on the Prospective Country Evaluation (PCE), a multi-country prospective process evaluation of Global Fund grants to countries. Allison has a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a bias in health metrics and evaluation from the University of Washington. |
Catherine Muyawala
Catherine Muyawala, the BID Learning Network Community Coordinator, is a knowledge management specialist with over 20 years of experience in information management including coordinating communities of practice. She has held various knowledge management related portfolios in diverse sectors including public health. Catherine holds a BA in Library and Information Science and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
