The BID Learning Network (BLN) invites you to watch a webinar presentation on “Electronic Immunization Registries in Tanzania and Zambia: From Design to Deployment.” The BID Initiative, a PATH project with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation worked closely with the ministries of health in Tanzania and Zambia to address data-related challenges faced by their immunization programs. The BID Initiative developed interventions comprising electronic immunization registries (EIRs), supply chain management, and data use tools. Join us in this webinar where the speakers provide an overview of the process to develop the digital health solutions, from the design stage through to deployment of the system. The presenters also highlight the product similarities, differences, challenges, and lessons for countries that would be interested in introducing or scaling up EIRs.
This webinar will be of interest to data management specialists, EPI managers, health management information system (HMIS) specialists, ICT specialists and other health care specialists committed to improving data collection, quality and use across health systems.

PRESENTERS
Hassan Mtenga
Hassan Mtenga has more than ten years of experience working in public sectors; seven years have been in the health sector. He has been working with PATH for the past five years as team lead for the BLN mentorship program. He provides overall leadership and strategic planning support and technical guidance to ministries of health, particularly on immunization programs and digital health initiatives. Prior to working with PATH, he worked with the University of Dar Es Salaam as a research associate and M&E specialist at the Global Fund AMFm program. He has extensive experience working with government institutions across the agricultural, health, and economic sectors. Hassan holds a master’s degree in public health, a post-graduate degree in policy research, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
John Richard
John Richard is a software analyst program officer for PATH in Tanzania. He is an ICT professional with more than seven years of experience in ICT development and with expertise in IT, system designing and digital health information systems. He oversees the software development team and has managed the Tanzania Immunization Registry (TImR) development, integration with the Vaccines Information Management System (VIMS) and customization. John also supported the deployment of digital solutions to ten regions in the country. He is a mentor under the BLN mentorship program.
Paul Nindi
Paul Nindi is a systems project manager for PATH in Zambia. Paul is an ICT specialist with more than ten years of experience in supporting digital transformations and solutions. He oversees software development and deployment of the EIR and other digital health platforms in Zambia. Paul is also a mentor under the BLN mentorship program providing support on digital transformations at different levels.
Catherine Muyawala
Catherine Muyawala, the BLN community coordinator, is a knowledge management specialist with more than 20 years of experience in information management including coordinating communities of practice. She has held various knowledge management related portfolios in diverse sectors, including public health. Catherine holds a BA in Library and Information Science and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
