The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Hosts Country Consultation Meeting

On October 23-24, 2013 the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will partner with the BID Initiative to convene more than twenty delegates across ten African countries. Held in Nairobi, attendees working in EPI and eHealth capacities in ministries of health will meet to discuss their experiences and perspectives on the barriers and opportunities in improving data quality and use to facilitate better decision-making around immunization programs. Participants will explore interest in establishing an African-led peer learning network, which will bring together EPI and eHealth representatives to exchange knowledge around information system products and data management policies, practices, and processes to find solutions to shared challenges.

For more context on the importance of improved immunization data and the potential impact of the BID Initiative’s success, Dr. Orin Levine, Director of Vaccine Delivery at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, highlighted key points from the meeting in a Huffington Post blog.
