Team Member Spotlight: Daines Mgidange

The BID Initiative team works across three countries in the United States, Tanzania, and Zambia. This week, we learn more about Daines Mgidange, Change Management Associate in Tanzania.

What is your role on BID? I am a Change Management Associate and implement change management and quality improvement efforts at health facilities for the BID Initiative.

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done? Walking a distance of 4 hours in heavy rain, wind, and mountain runoff (South Nguru Forest Reserve-Morogoro region) after 18 hours of going to a village for a public meeting.  At that time, I was four months pregnant and walking with another person. We were both unfamiliar with the place and followed a narrow forest. After 22 hours, we were extremely tired, disappointed, and the village was so quiet, no one recognized us except the village chairperson. A few months later, I resigned from that job.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a pastor. I liked the way pastors would raise their hands and bless people before ending sessions.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Tailoring.

What is one of your favorite quotes? “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things”. – Philippians 4:8

Who is your hero? My Mother Mwalimu FRIDA MGIDANGE, a strong and confident woman. I love her.

  1. I think Daines is an energetic person, compassionate and a leader. When I first arrived at Arusha BID office three weeks from today, I didn’t find it difficult to settle around with everything about BID and one thing I can tell about what she is doing around is that I am truly changed now!!
