Countries gather in Lusaka for BID Learning Network meeting to strengthen digital and data capacity

Mar 24, 2020

For Silemane Ouedraogo, an Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Data Manager in Burkina Faso, one of the most beneficial parts of the BID Learning Network (BLN) is the opportunity to learn from his peers about the digital health systems and technologies that have worked in their own countries. As countries figure out how to make use of limited resources for their health systems, this country engagement is irreplaceable.

The power of knowledge sharing: BID launches encyclopedia of lessons spanning five-year journey

Jul 11, 2018

Growth and progress are rarely linear. They zig and zag, and at times, for every step forward, there are two steps back.  Buoyed by platforms like the BID Learning Network (BLN) and User Advisory Groups, the BID Initiative has embraced adaptive management and iterative, flexible program design that, over the last five years, have translated into many proud wins, some setbacks, and in turn, many lessons learned. In the hopes of sharing these we’ve compiled a comprehensive encyclopedia that documents our learnings throughout every stage of BID’s journey, from the design and testing of data quality and use interventions, on through implementation.

Participants reflect on lessons and growth, as the BID Learning Network gathers one last time in Zambia

Sep 21, 2017

Sometimes the best solutions have a deceptively simple answer, or the solution already exists. Peer learning networks are an opportunity for professionals working across a range of workplaces, sectors and countries to swap experiences, share best practices, and adapt defined solutions to their own contexts, so as not to reinvent the wheel. For the past four years, The BID Learning Network (BLN) has been a platform for this sharing. As the BLN convenes its final discussion meeting in Lusaka, Zambia this week, we caught up with one BLN member, Mbye Njie, EPI Capacity Building and Surveillance Officer for The Gambia, to discuss what the BLN has meant to him, since it launched in 2013.

Jun 26, 2017

This August, in collaboration with the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), the BID Learning Network (BLN) will travel to Santiago, Chile to exchange lessons on electronic immunization registries and data management systems. The trip, planned for August 22 through 25, will mark the first visit outside of BLN countries.
