BLN Webinar: Principles of Digital Development
The BID Learning Network (BLN) invites you to join a webinar entitled “Principles of Digital Development”.
In this webinar, the presenter will provide information about the “Principles of Digital Development” which are a set of high level concepts for consideration before embarking on any technology-supported programs. The presenter will also discuss how they should be integrated during all phases of project implementation. The presentation will share how the principles were created in a community-driven effort and as a result of many lessons learned through the use of ICTs in development projects. The presentation will also discuss how the principles encourage the reuse, improvement, collaboration, and use of open source for scale while building on sustainability.
This webinar should be of interest to health information systems and data management specialists as well as healthcare practitioners committed to improving data availability, quality and use.

PRESENTER: CAROLYN FLOREY
Carolyn Florey has extensive experience in digital health solutions and is currently Director of Collective Impact at Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) where she works to coalesce the development community around scaling and increasing the impact and cost effectiveness of digital development investments. Prior to joining DIAL, Carolyn was m-Health senior Manager at the United Nations Foundation where she oversaw the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for Saving One Million Lives initiative in partnership with the Nigerian Ministries of Health and Communication Technology. Carolyn was part of the team that developed the National Health ICT Strategic Framework in Nigeria and the Every Woman, Every Child Innovation Working Group Catalytic m-Health Grants program that supported 26 organizations in 15 countries to scale m-Health initiatives. Carolyn has also worked for the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank and USAID. Carolyn holds an M.A. in International Development and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a B.A. in International Relations and Spanish from Tufts University.

Chilunga Puta, Director of the BLN, is an infectious disease research and public health practitioner with in excess of 20 years of experience working in developing country health care settings. She has held diverse technical and administrative positions that have enabled her to acquire a wide range of skills and in-depth understanding of developing economy health care systems. Dr. Puta holds a BSc joint honours in Biochemistry and Microbiology, a PhD in Biochemistry, an MPH with a major in Disease Surveillance, an MBA (Law) and is a Certified Quality Improvement Associate of the American Society for Quality.
