Global Immunization Meeting “Protect, Innovate, Accelerate” 23-25 June 2015

The objectives of the Global Immunization Meeting are to review and discuss among global, regional and
country immunization partners, key issues related to strengthening routine immunization, to the implementation of new and under-utilized vaccines and to accelerated disease control efforts – notably for measles, rubella and maternal and neonatal tetanus – including alignment with polio eradication efforts.

Would you go back?

Today is my son’s six-month birthday, and my husband and I took him in for his six-month pediatric appointment. He was due for his third and final doses of TDaP, Hib and IPV (pentavalent), HepB, PCV and rotavirus vaccines – only there was no rotavirus vaccine in stock. Sierra Leone: Mothers Refuse to Vaccinate Children for Fear of Resurgent Ebola

Doctors in Port Loko, a northwestern region of Sierra Leone outside Freetown, are reporting a significant drop in the number of mothers bringing their children to hospitals for routine vaccinations. The mothers, they say, fear exposing their children to a resurgent Ebola virus, and in keeping them from hospitals are risking triggering the spread of polio or measles.
