The BID Initiative team works across three countries in the United States, Tanzania, and Zambia. This week, we learn more about Tausi Kamaka, Implementation Coordinator in Tanzania.

What is your role on BID? Facilitating mentoring sessions about data collection, storage and usage, conducting in depth-interviews with health staff as directed by PATH, and also documenting all experiences and challenges encountered at the facility in identified tools, tracking tools, observation forms.

If you could choose anyone, who would be your mentor? I would choose my beloved sister, because I learned a lot of things from her. She is always charming, caring, and very supportive of me and other people.

What are your favorite indoor/outdoor activities? Indoor activities: having time to rest, listen to gospel music, and cooking. Outdoor activities: hanging out with my family or friends and skipping rope.

What is one of your favorite quotes? “Never say more than is necessary”.

“The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart. Nothing can bring you peace but yourself”.

“Challenges are what makes life interesting, but overcoming them is what makes life meaningful”.

What do you like most about your job? I enjoy interacting with employees on all different levels of the organization and the opportunity to work with BID Initiative Tanzania. I enjoy challenges, responsibility, and giving direct support to health workers in a way that really brings changes to data collection, data quality, and data use.

Where was your favorite vacation? My vacation to Lake Natron will always remain memorable and special.

“Tausi is a great addition to the team and has shown commitment to work and willing to learn. She has been a great help to the HCW in the touch activities currently in Arusha Regional.” – Oswald Luoga, Senior Implementation Specialist, Tanzania
