Monica

The BID Initiative team works across three countries in the United States, Tanzania and Zambia. This week, we learn more about Monica Graham, Communications Manager in Seattle.

How do you define your role?  As the communications manager, my job is to help tell the BID Initiative’s story and raise awareness around our work. I work with a talented team to develop and execute against various communications, advocacy and marketing strategies to reach our key audiences and further BID Initiative goals.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A veterinarian or marine biologist.

What do you like most about your job? All of the interesting places I have the opportunity to see and the lovely people that I get to meet and work with every day. And of course, being able to wake up and feel like I can help leave a positive impact on the world.

What is your favorite food? Popcorn. And not the healthy air popped popcorn, but the good kind. I’ve been known to eat popcorn for dinner when I don’t feel up for cooking.

Where was your favorite vacation? Going on safari in Tanzania. It’s such a magical place.

What was the last experience that made you a stronger person? Adopting a puppy who liked to mistake my hair for a tug toy.

“I have the pleasure of working closely with Monica and am repeatedly impressed with her dedication and expertise. In a short time, she has built and onboarded a communications team across three countries.  She is always thinking strategically in how we can drive awareness of BID and reach our key audiences through different channels. Working with Monica, you are always motivated to challenge yourself and her fun personality makes her a joy to work with!” – Tara Newton, Communications Associate, Seattle.
