The BID Initiative will introduce information system products and immunization practices that can be tested in Tanzania and Zambia, packaged for dissemination and then deployed at scale in many countries. To accomplish this, we have submitted a request for proposal for Electronic Immunization Registry Development in Tanzania.

The BID Initiative is designed to invest in existing information system products and investments already made by donors and national governments in immunization best practices wherever possible. We are seeking proposals to provide software development services to cover identified gaps of preselected immunization registries and fulfill the requirements of the Tanzania Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW). The immunization registry is to be scaled nationally and help manage the routine immunization of approximately two million new children born every year.

Tanzania’s MoHSW has strengthened its immunization programs, yet systemic problems such as identifying the under-vaccinated and unvaccinated children continue to stall efforts. Tanzania continues to face challenges related to data quality and have identified a few of the problems that are the highest priority within the RFP.

Additional details and requirements as well as the preselected immunization registries are identified in the RFP. Interested parties are requested to review the RFP below and confirm their interest no later than November 7, 2014. Proposals are due November 21, 2014.
