BLN Webinar: Lessons Learned in Change Management and Data Use

The BID Learning Network (BLN) invites you to watch a webinar entitled “Lessons Learned in Change Management and Data Use.”

In this webinar, the presenters share the lessons learnt in Tanzania and Zambia during the implementation of data quality and data use interventions at district and sub-district levels. The audience learns about the use of change management tools to overcome resistance to change. The presenters discuss the different approaches used to address resistance.

This presentation should be of interest to Data Management Specialists, EPI Managers, Health Management Information System (HMIS) Specialists and other health care specialists committed to improving data collection, quality and use.

PRESENTERS: 

Masaina Bwakya

Masaina Bwakya is the Change Management Officer with the BID Initiative whose role in this capacity entails leading the implementation of all change management and quality improvement efforts for the BID Initiative in Southern Province, Zambia.  Masaina has a background in development, monitoring and evaluation of projects and the immunization program in Zambia. She holds a Masters of Science in Project Management, a BA in Development Studies and a Higher Diploma in Information Systems.  Her particular area of interest in immunisation is data visualisation, which helps to show trends and tell stories about generated data that enables health workers to make better decisions for better health outcomes.

Daines Mgidange

Daines Mgidange is a Change Management Officer for the BID Initiative with more than 8 years of experience in supporting different communities of Tanzania on health, natural resources and education issues with different local and international organizations. Daines has demonstrated her capacity for helping healthcare workers to capture and use immunization data for evidence-based decisions. She has managed to coordinate the implementation of change management interventions to the different four regions in Tanzania toward improving data use culture to healthcare workers across all levels of the health system. Under the BID Initiative, she has been part of the designing, testing and implementation process from which she has gained different change management experiences and is able to support any community on change management perspectives. Daines has an academic background on International Development, Community and Environment from Clark University, USA.

MODERATOR: MS. CATHERINE MUYAWALA

Catherine Muyawala, the BLN Community Coordinator, is a knowledge management specialist with over 20 years of experience in information management and dissemination. She has held various knowledge management-related portfolios in diverse sectors including public health where she championed the use of mHealth solutions for Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) in sexual and reproductive health among adolescents. During the course of her career she acquired diverse skills that have culminated into coordinating both social communication and strategic information programs, events management, communities of practice facilitation among multi-sectoral and multi-cultural stakeholders. Catherine holds a BA in Library and Information Science and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
